Arpaio for Congress? Not if Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin have Anything to say

Joe Arpaio was first elected as Sheriff of Maricopa County in 1992 and began his path of destruction and terror. Prisoners were subjugated to the temperatures of the Arizona desert and were beaten and tortured during their time in Arpaio’s care.

Arpaio was looking into ways to arrest the owners of the newspaper, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin and finally figured it out, or so he thought. He arrest Lacey and Larkin after they published court documents in their newspaper. Arpaio thought he finally had his journalistic opposition, but a court ruled that Arpaio violated the first amendment by silencing the press.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were awarded 4 million dollars, and they sold the Phoenix New Times. In the New Time‘s place came an altruistic effort called The Frontera Fund. The Frontera Fund provides help to the former victim’s of Joe Arpaio: the Latino community. Arpaio focused his despicable behavior on Latinos in an attempt to make a name for himself.

Front Page Confidential came a few years later. This is Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey’s new publication. Front Page Confidential continues the Phoenix New Time‘s journalistic focus. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin are still covered Joe Arpaio, as Arpaio continues his bid for United States Congress.
